Thursday Thirteen #4

Another Thursday, another Thirteen. This week I'll give you my all-time 13 favourite 90's songs. No worries, the other decades will follow, but as I spent the whole 90s being a teenager - yes I'm one of those lucky and blessed '79-born kids - these songs influenced me, my being a musician and so on.

I will definitely come up with a TT about my fav albums, cause in my opinion this is something different. You can love cartain songs, though you don't like the artist, or the rest of the album is simply crap.

And please don't forget that some of them I had to list because I knew them by heart when I was younger. Be honest folks, nobody listens to J.S. Bach and Chick Corea when he/she is adolescent, and the Backstreet Boys didn't get rich cause my mom thought that they are "sooooo cute!!!"

So get prepared, here we go:

Thirteen Things about Juliadamus

13. Jump around - House of Pain

12. What's up - 4 non Blondes

11. Everybody (Backstreets Back) - Backstreet Boys

10. Under the Bridge - Red Hot Chilli Peppers

9. Uninvited + Ironic - Alanis Morissette

8. Song 2 - Blur

7. Ice Ice Baby - Vanilla Ice + U can't touch this - MC Hammer

6. Männer sind Schweine - Die Ärzte

5. Smells like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

4. Killing in the Name of - Rage against the machine

3. Everybody hurts - R.E.M.

2. Walking after you - Foo Fighters

1. Millionen Legionen - Die fantastischen Vier

I think I've actually heard of a couple of those. I usually don't know pop songs from any era, but I remember when Ironic was so popular, and who could forget grade-schoolers dancing their hearts out to Ice, Ice Baby.

Great list! I'm a child of the 80's ... but loved some of those songs you listed!!! Happy Thursday!

Man, your list sure brings back memories, though it's hard to believe some of them were from that long ago. Great idea for a TT!

Babystepper:
Yeah, I think we looked pretty funny doing it, but I'M not ashamed of doing it ;)

Patti:
Problem is I have so many songs I love, that I have to systemize them. And I'll definitely bring a TT with my fav 80's songs, too. I'd love to hear your opinion on that.

Santa's Elf:
Unbelievable isn't it?! Most of them are more or less 15 years old!

Nice mix of 90s tunes. "What's Up?" is one of those songs that you just have to sing the chorus to at the top of your lungs.

Thanks for voting in my Batman poll. I don't know if you checked, but my TT for this week is music-related as well.

Hey, Julia! I only know two of these because of my "advanced" age. I was raising my kids in the 90s, so i only remember Barney the Dinosaur songs! but I did enjoy the year 1979; I was 16 and had a boyfriend and a car...all was right with the world!

I remember both of #7 so very well because my then 5 year old son was wearing them out in the cassette player in my car! Great list! Thanks for stopping by.

OMG--a few of those were played at my party on Saturday...mainly Ice, Ice Baby--about which my friends and I were so proud to proclaim: "we know all the words."

Linda:
Yeah, '79 definitely was a good year ;)

Kat:
I think my mom knows exactly what you're talking about ;) though I heard it at home, too - sorry mom!

Shan:
Yep, same with me, as soon as I hear one of them I completely recall the lyrics. It's kind of creepy isn't it?
